Western Nopphara Thara
On the far side of the river is the best part of Nopphara Thara Beach -- a long stretch of largely undeveloped sand -- one of Krabi's best little hideaways. You can reach it by motorbike, but the vast majority of visitors reach here by a one minute ride on the longtail. That one minute ride makes a world of difference -- there's no traffic and the only noise is the swaying trees that line the beach and maybe some distant chatter in one of the few restaurants. Haad Nopphara Thara is a lovely area - don't let the difficult name put you off! Unfortunately most of the resorts here shut down in low season.

P.A.N. Resort
Nice hideaway
This is the last place on the beach and has small basic huts with an attached restaurant. It appeared to be closed for low season at our last visit, but would estimate 100-150B a ... Read the full review of P.A.N. Resort.

Long Beach
Rustic
Long Beach has very rustic bungalows with a rather odd-looking tree-house set up out front. It's a good basic spot. It appeared to be closed during our last visit during low season, but looks like it ... Read the full review of Long Beach.

Emerald Resort
Sliding downhill
This was once the flashest place on the beach, with a nice bar area, great staff and excellent bungalows. Time has taken its toll, alas, and it's now a shadow of its former self. The bungalows are ... Read the full review of Emerald Resort.

Andaman Inn
Best value on the beach
T: (081) 893 2964; F: Haad Nopphara TharaAndaman is the closest to the river on Haad Nopphara Thara and the best value on the beach. The huts are basic but the position is good and it's reliably open year-round. They have two sets of ... Read the full review of Andaman Inn.
Eastern Nopphara Thara
This is the poorer part of Nopphara Thara Beach. The beach is fine, but there is a quite busy road that runs its length and the more or less continual stream of tooting traffic and heavy trucks really takes away from the area.

Sabai Resort
Great for families and groups
Nopphara Thara Beach Rd
T: (075) 637 791; F: (075) 695 117This is a good choice for a long stay on Nopphara Thara Beach for a reasonable price. The rooms are quite good -- a bit plain but bright and homey -- the family bungalows are well-equipped, including ... Read the full review of Sabai Resort.

Blue Bayou
Convenient location
79 Moo 3, Haad Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 637 558;This is one of a handful of options right on the beach road, and it's not a bad pick if that's you're top priority. The concrete bungalows are quite well done, cool during the day, and the bathrooms ... Read the full review of Blue Bayou.

Noppharat Village Resort
Looks promising
97 Moo 3, Haad Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 695 601;This place was being extensively renovated and was closed for business on our visit, but we chatted with the owner and got a good vibe about the place. The bungalows seem to be shaping up nicely, and ... Read the full review of Noppharat Village Resort.

Ao Nang Buri Resort
Clean and new
118 Moo 3 Haad Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 637 499; F: (075) 637 495This is a mid-range resort that opened late 2003, and the grounds are already starting to look a bit shabby and overgrown. The pool is of a decent size, but wedged into a courtyard with the resort ... Read the full review of Ao Nang Buri Resort.

The Cashew Nut
Good value for money
96 Moo 3, Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 637 560;This very quiet, low-key place is run by a Thai-Muslim family and offers clean, basic bungalows that are a good value for the money. It doesn't have the kind of atmosphere you'll get at the Laughing ... Read the full review of The Cashew Nut.

Mild Bungalow
A bit far from the beach
148 Moo 3 Haad Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 638 078-9; F: (075) 638 078When we first visited this place there wasn't a lick of shade on the somewhat desolate grounds and the place had all the atmosphere of a car park. But the situation has improved somewhat -- ... Read the full review of Mild Bungalow.

Success Beach Resort
Not actually on the beach
Nopphara Thara Rd
T: (02) 322 2077;This is a post-tsunami addition to the beach, and it seems like the place hasn't really caught on yet. The lobby is impressive, but despite the heavily doctored photo in the brochure, it's not really ... Read the full review of Success Beach Resort.

Chaya Resort
Pretty rooms
149 Moo 3, Haad Nopphara Thara
T: (075) 638 154; F: (075) 638 155The rooms here are quite pretty, with new wooden furnishings and nice decorative touches. In and of themselves they are sort of worth the price, and the location is quite close to the beach, but the ... Read the full review of Chaya Resort.
