Zwegabin Hotel

Fancyish digs outside town

No pic at the moment -- Sorry!

What we say: 3.5 stars

The Zwegabin Hotel is new resort style accommodation outside of town on the road to Moulmein. There's a choice of separate chalets or cheaper rooms in a block but all are set in an attractive garden and the resort has a spectacular setting overlooking some nearby limestone formations. All rooms have air-con with en-suite bathrooms and staff can help organise tours of the area though it's going to be more expensive than a join-in tour at Soe's. Like the Grand Hill this hotel is around 5 kms out of town so not very convenient unless you have your own transport. Zwegabin is definitely the best up-market option and a good choice if you have rented a taxi. It doesn't come cheap though, with low season rates at $60 and staff were non-committal re high season. We assume they're waiting to see how numbers are but expect $80 or so for a chalet. Frankly if you go for the concrete block rooms rather than a chalet it defeats the purpose of staying at Zwegabin and you may as well try Parami or even Grand hill instead. High season rates are estimates.
