The Hill Garden Hotel is a gorgeous group of 14 bungalows nestled among a beautiful grove of fruit trees and colourful vegetation.
Papaya, bananas, pineapples and plums are among the plants in the meticulously maintained garden. A secluded beach is a few minutes' walk away and rooms on the south wing offer views of the Chaung Tha reservoir. Rooms are simple spotless bungalows with large bathrooms and a separate area for showering. They aren't equipped with air-con but fans are available upon request; they're not usually necessary as the hilltop location allows for a natural flow of fresh breeze. Power is available from 18:00 until 06:00 and there's no WiFi, but plans are in the works. Rooms are equipped with hot water thanks to the solar water heater. The Hill Garden's main drawback is the location, a five-minute scooter ride from most of the other resorts. Some however may view this positively as it allows for an ultimate sense of quiet and relaxation. The on-site restaurant includes free breakfast, water and Chinese tea. It's under the same ownership as the Shwe Hin Tha Hotel (located next to the bus station); check-in there and they'll provide free transport for check-in and check-out. Bicycles are available for 1,500 kyat per day.
