Perfect for neat freaks
The Emerald Sea Resort was being renovated when we visited in the middle of 2013, but the rooms that were open were spotless and had all the amenities you could wish for (in Burma!): air-con, hot water showers (with tubs in the pricier rooms), WiFi, fully stocked minibar, TV, coffee and tea.
The only downside is that the flat screen televisions were a bit on the small side. The friendly staff member was eager to show off the rooms and spoke good English. A swimming pool is located in the resort but was closed at the time of our visit; inquire to check that it has reopened beforehand if that's important to you. A team of landscapers meticulously maintain the beautifully designed gardens, which are perfect for a stroll after a day on the well-kept beach. On-site massage available. Rates include breakfast. Book in advance during busy season.
