What we say: 3.5 stars

This 52-room hotel holds a certain amount of kitsch appeal. In one lobby painting, a tiger and eagle fighting to the death more or less sets the scene. Another depicts a deer lapping water from a brook. Faux bear heads carved out of wood adorn the walls. Everything is framed in gold. A wide, stone staircase leads up to the small, clean guestrooms with the necessary amenities. As of late 2008, the owner was in the process of building an adjacent 52-room addition across the parking lot. Management said the tall, yellow building, set to open in early 2009, will contain rooms similar to the current hotel.
