What we say: 
We has a very funny moment here where trying to get into a room to take a look; after spending a good 10 minutes trying to find the cleaner, it turned out she was asleep in the room we were trying to see. In a nutshell that sums up here -- friendly, but very laid back. It's a good five-minute walk south of where the Phnom Penh bus drops you off, well away from most of the other guesthouses in town. There's a first floor veranda and a downstairs layabout area to enjoy the riverside setting for the more laid back travellers. Silver Dolphin has been through a few owners (previously it was Brown & Blue Guesthouse) over the years and the rooms won't feature in Elle Decor anytime soon, but if you're looking for a simple setting you could do worse.

Stuart McDonald co-founded Travelfish.org with Samantha Brown in 2004.
