Description
The three story monstrously yellow Mekong Hotel sits by the Mekong River and is easily the best value hotel in town. The rooms are huge and have very clean hot-water bathrooms, cable TV and air-con or fan. Beds are reasonable though some are super soft and some guests report the air-con is a bit variable so test it before accepting the room. The corridors are cavernous and have the acoustics of a toilet bowl, so light-sleepers will need ear plugs if they don't want to be woken by someone in their bathroom vomiting across the corridor at 05:00. Basic breakfast is available downstairs and the staff are cheery, English-speaking and able to supply travel information and onward travel arrangements. Popular with tour groups and NGOs.

The prices are now US$6/12. I have a feeling the room I stayed in was of a different breed than the ones described above. The $6 fan room was adequate, but nothing more than that. It was mostly clean on the surface but badly in need of a good scrub, with the bathroom particularly grimy. The noisy ceiling fan looked very hazardous, and someone just a bit taller than me (187 cm) could've found themselves decapitated. In any case, the staff were helpful enough and the location on the riverside is nice.

Hotel sans surprise avec des chambes plus que convenables avec eau chaude et tv sat ,ayant vue sur le Mékong. Quoi demander de plus pour 10$.
