Description
All Spean Thmey would need to greatly improve its value is a coat of paint and good scrub. The rooms, while not as large as those at the Mekong, are still well-sized, but with paint peeling off the walls and very old and grungy cold-water bathrooms, the Spean Themy is poor value when compared to the Mekong. The big asset here are the two floors of shared verandas that offer great views over the river -- all they need now are a few sticks of furniture, some pot plants and a hammock or two.

Like the Spean Thmey Guesthouse a little further down the road, the rooms here are on the bleak side and the bathrooms grimy. The most frustrating thing however are the bars on the windows which are in a concentrated metal weave pattern that totally destroy the possibility of a pleasant river view.... more
