The shining star of Kompong Chhnang if not SE Asia
Southwest of the central square, Kompong Chhnang
Kompong Chhang Province

Description
This is the shining star of Kompong Chhnang Guesthouse scene -- actually, it would the shining star of any guest house scene anywhere in southeast Asia. It's in a quiet and attractive location, on well-tended grounds, with a staff that speaks English and French. There's a wide variety of rooms to choose from, with options available to make them friendly to everyone's budget, and the rooms -- this cannot be emphasized enough -- the rooms here are the most pristinely clean rooms that have ever existed anywhere in the known universe. Seriously, you'll feel guilty messing them up, but never fear: the moment you leave someone will whisk in restore everything to its former glory. What's more, everything in the room always works, or it is immediately repaired. And you can get all this for the same budget prices available elsewhere in town. Finding a place like this in a place like Kompong Chhnang is nothing short of astonishing. The only reason it doesn't rate a perfect score is that, well, it's in Kompong Chhnang. You can hire a motorbike here for US$5 a day or a bicycle for US$2 a day. Highly Recommended.

Simply amazing -
By rakhee2108 ( total comments: 6  More information please ) Stayed here 6/2007
We paid $7 for a triple room, ensuite, fan, fridge/freezer, cable TV. This included complimentary bottled water, all toiletries, flip flops!

This guesthouse was amazing - the best we stayed in our 5wks in SE Asia. Lovely, spotless rooms. All the appliances worked. Staff speak a little English and French and are very friendly and do everything they can to help. The owners let us use their clothes washing area (washing line) when we mentioned we needed to do laundry. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

Bopha Angkor Guesthouse
National Road Number 5, Kompong Chhnang
This is the first of the budget guesthouses along the road to Phnom Penh, on the left past the Sovannphum Hotel. There's a bougainvillea-filled courtyard out front of the scrappy little building, which does feature a kind of a second floor terrace. But the real reason to stay here the price -- the... more

Holiday Guest House
National Road Number 5, Kompong Chhnang
This is the third of the budget places along the road to Phnom Penh, just past the Phkay Proeunk. It has a similar courtyard and terrace, and the rooms here are much the same -- basic, shabby, budget rooms -- but not quite as nice as their nearest neighbour, making it a fall-back option. They also... more

Rithisen Hotel
River road, Kompong Chhnang
It's a shame that the only place on the river is such a dump. All the rooms are fan doubles with windows of one description or another, but you'll find better basic accommodation closer to town, and for the same price or a few dollars more, really excellent value for your money. The only advantage... more

Phkay Proeunk Guest House
National Road Number 5, Kompong Chhnang
This place on the road to Phnom Penh, just past the super-low-budget Bopha, offers basic fan rooms that are much like the ones at the Rithisen Hotel on the river, but without the advantage of being close to the river. The only advantage here is the addition of teeny, tiny, TV sets. The friendly... more

Nana Guesthouse
Next to Sokha's Guesthouse, Kompong Chhnang
Shabby rooms with stained walls, a crummy courtyard full of mean barking dogs and piles of neglected construction debris. It's as if Sokha's Guest House next door sucked all the energy out of this place and left the laws of entropy to run rampant and unchecked. Could be some sort of rift in the... more
