Angkorchey Guesthouse

Big rooms, good location

This mid-sized Chinese hotel has huge but slightly shabby air-con and fan rooms just off Sisowath Quay, across from the bustling night market. The narrow lobby, stuffed with boxed merchandise for the adjacent pharmacy, is invariably filled with several members of the owner's family. The rooms are reasonably clean, the bathrooms okay, and with the location so close to the river the price represents a great deal. Some of the doubles have two double beds that can actually sleep four, and the triple can sleep up to six, so for families and groups on a budget, this place could be an acceptable choice if you can ignore the evening noise from the market. The building is not overflowing with character, and the family of the owners that hangs out in the lobby seem a bit unfriendly, although their one English-speaking son is helpful. The hotel offers free WiFi. It looks like the kind of place you book when you arrive late at night with a big backpack and don't have the patience to find something interesting. Still it's comfortable enough and you could do a lot worse than here.

Angkorchey Guesthouse reviews

Read 1 opinions from Travelfish readers

Cannot recommend - 10th April, 2007
For the location, sure it's cheap. The management however, are everything but ''helpful and cheery''. In fact, they seemed quite annoyed to have us staying at their place. The rooms are basically okay, but not very clean, and there's a very strong musky odor about, most likely from mold. Cannot recommend this place, but it will do in a pinch.
