This large, multi-storey place isn't right on the lake, but some of the rooms do have views over it. The rooms are clean and well looked after, though they're only mid-sized. The roof-top restaurant and bar is pretty good. The air-con rooms have cable TVs. A full range of travel services are available in the lobby along with cheap internet. Major credit cards and travellers cheques accepted.

Grand View Guest House reviews

Glorified coffin - 21st February, 2009
Granted it only cost $4 per night for a double with cold water, but unfortunately the room was accurately priced. The bed touched three walls and walking space gave you just enough room to close the door. You could upgrade to a double with AC and hot water for $10, but I took a look at the room and it wasn't worth 10. Location is pretty bad. Lots of little kids on drugs trying to sell you books and pushy tuk tuk drivers. You're better off staying near the palace. We moved to Okay Guesthouse and got a nice room for $8 a night. If you do stay at Grand View, at least treat yourself to the cheap Indian breakfast at the Curry Pot. That almost made up for the room.

Friendly Staff - 26th February, 2007
We found this guesthouse to be very cheap and the staff were friendly and very also helped us get our Vietnam visas. With regards to the rooms, you do get what you pay for! But we had looked at other places, and this was the best value for money.

Clean and friendly - 28th November, 2009
We stayed here for 3 nights after a bad night in Lazyfish. The room was quite small but the bed linen and the bathroom were very clean and the staff were ultra helpful. The views from the upper floors were good and helped us escape the very claustrophobic streets. Reception did our Laos visas with no fuss.

Good for internet and tickets - 18th July, 2007
I agree, the rooms are not the best, but the internet is fast and the staff is helpful. They took care of my tickets and Vietnam visa. They also check their email daily so it is easy to reserve a room.
