The Billabong Hotel
Great pool

What we say:
The best thing about the Billabong Hotel is the saltwater swimming pool. If you stay here, expect to spend the middle of most days floating around in it - -and your nights too, since it's lit in the evenings and guests are still allowed to swim then. Rooms are very clean and well looked after, but the rates are on the high side, though lower than most hotels in the area with pools. The deluxe rooms are well ahead of the cramped standard rooms both in size and decor, and have a couch, and a better view of the pool. Each room is decorated in a warm, modern style, with wide memory-foam beds dressed in black and burgundy sheets and rattan rugs over dark, tile floors and air-con, TV and mini-fridge. Bathrooms have strong, hot showers. The ground floor has a pleasant little restaurant, with iron chairs and tables protected by the midday sun by canvas awnings, on a patio next to the pool. WiFi is US$1 per hour or US$2.50 per day, but is invariably spotty and slow. Rates include breakfast for two and a one-way airport pick-up (confirm with flight details before arrival). As of early 2009, noisy construction was underway next door. Pool can be used by non-guests for $5 and it certainly beats swimming in the lake.

Friendly and Comfortable
We stayed in the $36 dollar rooms for 6 nights. The staff were very friendly and the location was good too. Some noise during the day from the construction but not too intrusive. Breakfast was always nice. Good value.

Nothing special
We stayed here just for one night. The room was clean and quite quiet, despite the fact that they had some construction work going on next door. The shower was nice with plenty of pressure. Food at the restaurant is nothing to write home about, and it's quite pricy. We liked the pool area. Wireless internet costs an additional $2.50 per day.

OK
It's an ok choice, nothing special like the Blue Lime, where we stayed the first time, but it was fully booked when we returned. The rooms at Billabong are ok clean, the pool area is nice. The restaurant is not relly great. And it's not the quitest place, but it is really ok to stay there.

Acceptable hotel
Decent enough hotel and centrally located. Rooms were clean but breakfasts minimal. Street noise nearby starts early but otherwise recommended.

Noisy but nice
Billabong is a great hotel, with comfy beds, hot showers, delicious food and very friendly staff. They arranged our visa into Vietnam ($47 for 24hr turnaround) and sorted us out with a great tuk tuk driver to the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum. The only problem at the moment is the noisy construction work. We wanted a quiet chill day but the pool, but it was fairly impossible. Work started around 7am until around 4pm. The $36 rooms at the back are definitely the noisiest. Pay an extra $3 and get a poolside room instead. If you're planning to be out all day, it really isn't a problem. If you want to laze by the pool, take your earplugs or ipod. Other than that, The Billabong is an excellent choice!

Great for PP
Even though we did not enjoy PP as much as other places visited, the Billabong was a great place to stay - Larry was a nice bloke, and the staff were really friendly. We left PP early but they never minded. Lovely room and great pool ... could not fault the place.

Great place!
Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. Food is good. Pool is a sanctuary! Great if you have kids. We used the Billabong as our base during a month's trip in Cambodia with 2 kids, and always looked forward to coming back.
