Himawari Hotel Apartments

Smart apartment style rooms

What we say: 3.5 stars

According to the publisher of the Cambodia Daily (pleased that the hotel provides complimentary copies of his newspaper over rival Phnom Penh Post to guests), the Himawari is the nicest hotel in Cambodia and has the best view in the world. While these superlatives are a bit exaggerated, this hotel is certainly in a top-tier category of its own. A Japanese millionaire who likes to keep a low profile spending a few weeks here on business needn't look any further. The ambience is at once stylish and incredibly practical, with very smart wooden-floored, apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes, walk-in wardrobes and plush bathrooms. The riverview rooms are excellent but most of them are the more expensive executive options. The hotel has full four-star facilities including a swimming pool right on the river and a gym, both of which are frequented by card-carrying local expatriates, and can get quite busy in the evenings and on weekends. The hotel also has a banquet centre, a business centre that comes with complimentary secretarial services, a library and private conference rooms. The whole place is wired for WiFi. If within your budget, this is one of the best of the riverside hotels in Phnom Penh.
