This guesthouse, located on a quiet sidestreet just north of Wat Phnom, opened in early 2008. It's a bit sterile, with gray marble floors and white walls, but the friendliness of the staff more than compensates. You will have never met staff who seem so genuinely excited to meet you, serve you and become your new best friend. If you want to be left alone, this is not the place for you! If you like kindness, look no further. The rooms are a bit small and plain, but the standing, glass-enclosed showers are a rare treat in Cambodia. If you have the funds, splurge on the suite. It has two balconies, one spacious one and one facing the river and the Japanese Friendship Bridge.

Wonderful place, bubbling atmosphere and lovely staff!
I have stayed several times in this wonderful guesthouse. Great place, bubbling atmosphere and lovely staff! Excellent place to meet different nationalities as well as the famous Cambodian smiles! They can arrange pick up service for you if you need it. Very helpfull staff which provides you with advice and a variety of services. And when you return to Phom Penh later during your trip the staff will greet you like you are a longtime friend. No wonder many travellers keep returning to Me Mates Place.

Pricey, but worth it
We stayed here in a double room with air con for a few nights. The shower is incredible - certainly the nicest one I've used in a while. The room was immaculate, and the staff was extremely helpful and chatty. Would be especially helpful for solo travelers. Non-pushy tuk tuk drivers are available outside the hotel and offer reasonable rates around town. The only drawback is that we paid $20 for the room. While our stay was lovely, we later paid $10 for a similar room at another guesthouse. Recommended if your budget allows.
