Friendly people, cold rooms
Quieter than its brasher peers, Me Mates place offers clean, polished rooms, fabulous staff (still), and a relaxed, easy-going (not stoner-relaxed, just relaxed-relaxed) vibe.
The staff are very helpful, and while it offers fewer amenities than say, 88 Backpackers, it also offers a little more peace and quiet. On the other hand, you may find the staff eager to practice their already excellent English on you, but then you never know what you might learn that way. The rooms are a bit small and plain, though clearly a lot of attention has been paid to details, such as the standing, glass-enclosed showers which are a rare treat in Cambodia. If you have the funds, splurge on the suite. It has two balconies, one spacious one and one facing the river and the Japanese Friendship Bridge.
