Indochine 2 Hotel

A good mid-range choice

Located just off the river on Street 130, a giant yellow sign identifies this three-storey, spotless hotel. This great choice offers 35 big air-con rooms with tastefully decorated private bathrooms lined with attractive, clean checkered tile. The hotel is right near two great restaurants -- for Indian, try Seer-e Punjan, and for tasty Thai try Lemongrass. Most rooms are bright, with large windows and sheer curtains, though the sparse, windowless singles feel cell-like. The furniture seems fit for much smaller rooms, with small wicker chairs and miniature nightstands. Whereas most midrange hotels in the area require you to overlook a certain amount of shabbiness, the furniture looks new, the sheets are soft and clean, and the floors look sanitary enough to eat off. As it's away from the river, you get more for your money and less of the pedestrian and traffic cacophony ubiquitous on Sisowath Quay. It's a bit of a tour group haven though, so it can sometimes be hard to get service during mass check-ins and check-outs. Staff speak great English.

Superlative service - 29th October, 2007
We stayed here 2 times, staff were incredibly helpful and on our unexpected return treated us like long lost friends, even managed to find us a room even though they were booked out. Close to everything especially Lemongrass restaurant.

Friendly folks - 25th March, 2007
I stayed here three times as I went in and out of Phnom Penh to other spots north and south. A little on the expensive side, but nice sunlit rooms, very friendly staff, and close to everything on the river.

Great location, staff speaks English well, but... - 4th June, 2009
We stayed for one night in a $20 twin room on the third floor. I understand that the newer, cleaner rooms are on the fourth floor. The one who stayed in had rather shabby furniture and the room had a musty smell. We were also badly bitten by ants that night. There were tons crawling on the floor and the wall above our beds. Also, the A/C and fan inside our room were rather dusty, and the debris fell onto my bed (which was under both).

Nice enough! - 30th May, 2009
Stayed here for one night, nice enough place, clean rooms with hot water/air con etc. Saw the Indochine hotel by the riverside before visiting the Indochine 2 - the 2 has much nicer rooms. Almost by the riverside too.

Awesome Service - 8th January, 2009
We stayed for three nights at $20/night in a big, air conditioned room with a balcony. The locations is perfect for walking to the palaces etc and the front desk spoke great english and were very helpful in organising drivers etc for us. The downstairs restaurant serves great local and western food, otherwise there are restaurants a couple of minutes walk in any direction. There was also a water bottle refill facility in the lobby.

Indochine 1 - 26th August, 2006
I did not stay in Indochine 2 but in the original Indochine. Nice location with a view over Tonle Sap and Mekong. It is quiet even though it is located on one of the main streets in Phnom Penh. The staff are very kind and really helpful. It is a small hotel, and the staff will know you by name from the first day. And they really seem to care about you. A good choice if you go to Phnom Penh.

Clean but noisy - 6th August, 2006
We spent four nights at the Indochine 2. It's very clean but the double bed is more a large single bed and it is quite noisy. We were awaken by the sound of TV from the next room every morning.

Excellent - 31st January, 2006
Great location right near the river. Clean and spacious room with proper cable TV. Service was excellent. The hotel's own restaurant is pretty good; but the Lemongrass Thai restaurant two doors down is absolutely superb.

It is a good choice for a mid range backpacker. Good location and an assistant who speaks fluent English.
