King Grand Suites Boutique Hotel II
Posh rooms in the city centre
What we say:
If you're looking for luxury in a central Phnom Penh location and are willing to pay for it, the King Grand should fit the bill.
The hotel opened in late 2012 and offers 20 rooms spread over four floors, all accessible by a lift. Spacious rooms are decorated with a splash of romance -- towels are folded like kissing 'love birds', wall art features bright pink flower blossoms, and real flower pedals can be found floating in ceramic wash basins.
Each room is fully kitted out with air-con, free WiFi, safe big enough for a laptop, fridge, desk, sitting area, large flat-screen TV and do-it-yourself tea and coffee.
While the deluxe offers just slightly more space and an extra window compared to the superior, the jacuzzi deluxe gets you -- um -- a jacuzzi tub. The king suite is fit for a honeymoon (or a big family) with an outdoor garden jacuzzi and loads of space. Property extras include a mid-size swimming pool and complimentary breakfast with choices like French toast and eggs benedict.
The hotel enjoys a very convenient location, close to bars like Equinox and Liquid, a host of eclectic restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques, and attractions like Independence Monument and Wat Langka. Note that we were quoted less than half of the rack rate on the superior as a walk-in. Similar huge discounts can be scored on Agoda.com.
