What we say: 4 stars

A stalwart of the Kampot backpacker scene, Blissful has a range of good value rooms and a lovely garden setting. Accommodation is shared out between a large, two-storey house with hardwood floors, and dorm rooms and earth walled bungalows next door. The rooms are clean and reasonably well-maintained, even if some are a little pokey. Dorm rooms have windows, fans, and three or eight beds with shared bathrooms outside. Beds are not the softest, but come with mosquito nets and windows have screens. The pleasant garden area is good for lazing in hammocks and bucket chairs under thatched roofs, surrounded by palms and connected by stone paths, but bring some mosquito repellent. The bar/restaurant serves excellent Western and Cambodian food, including a Sunday roast, and has plentiful information stuck on the walls. It's a good spot to meet fellow travellers, especially at the Tuesday quiz night and the Wednesday Texas Hold 'Em evening. During happy hours from 16:00 to 20:00, draft Anchor costs 75 cents and shooters are 2 for 1. Bicycles are available for hire and Blissful can assist regarding volunteering opportunities in Kampot. A popular, comfortable and friendly spot, with a welcoming backpacker vibe.
