Backpacker factory
Centre of town, Kampot
Kampot Province

Description
A bit of a backpacker factory, Kampot's Mealy Chenda is centrally-located and offers basic, no-frills rooms with fan and very grimy bathrooms. The main asset here is the large upstairs terrace area from where you can see Bokor and watch goings-on in Kampot. Better options in Kampot are available, but there's nothing particularly wrong with here -- and the location is smack-bang in the centre of town. Expect to be asked about taking a tour upon checking in.

Mealy Chenda has moved! -
By marijke1968 ( total comments: 1  More information please ) Stayed here 4/2008
Mealy Chenda has moved to a new location, and has a/c rooms ($15 max) available as well. The superior a/c was spacious and nicely decorated, although the bathroom was beginning to fall apart already.

Staff is OK, but a bit pushy in getting you into their trips and transport.

Spacious rooms -

The rooms here are spacious and have very high ceilings and nice looking flooring. Even the doors are extra tall! It's near the Kampot music school. Staff are nice. Don't use the toilet at the ground floor -- it's dark, dirty and you can't lock the door! The food served is okay.

Blissful Guesthouse
Off the river, Kampot
Blissful is easily the best value guesthouse in Kampot. Set in a large, two-storey house, the rooms are clean and well-maintained, even if some are a little pokey. A spacious common area on the first floor has plentiful information stuck on the walls and is a good spot to collapse in the midday... more

Kampot Guesthouse
Off the river, Kampot
Just up the road from Blissful, Kampot has spotless, well-sized rooms priced across a range of budgets. There's also a large terrace and a restaurant on site serving Khmer and limited western food. While the rooms are quite a good price, Kampot Guesthouse gets more than its fair share of complaints... more

Orchid Guesthouse
Opposite Blissful Guesthouse, Kampot
Orchid Guesthouse is one of the newer guesthouses in Kampot and has settled in well in the budget quarter around Blissful Guesthouse. Orchid offers a range of accommodation from rooms in a Khmer-style villa through to bungalows. Most are clean, though some of the bathrooms can be a little on the... more

Long Villa Guesthouse
Northern end of Kampot
Long Villa is at the northern end of Kampot on the road leading to the new bridge, and has its accommodation set in a two storey building back off the main road. Rooms are mostly good and clean -- the cheapest are pretty ordinary, but their larger mid-priced rooms are quite good value for Kampot.... more

Kampot River View Guesthouse
Riverside, northern end of Kampot
Set at the northern end of Kampot, the Kampot River View Guesthouse doesn't make as much use of its riverside location as it could. Rooms are adequate -- they're all fan-cooled, clean and come with cable TV and private bathrooms but are nothing to get too excited about. The best thing is the... more

Bodhi Villa
Teuk Chhou Rd, Kampot
The uber-chilled out, Australian-run Bodhi Villa sits on the Teuk Chhou Rd a couple of kilometres north of Kampot on the west side of the river. The only place in town with a speedboat (yes, speedboat), Boddhi caters to the most laid back of the laid back travellers you're likely to meet. The... more

Utopia, Kampot
Around 7km north of Kampot
If Bodhi Villa isn't chilled out enough, then just keep on heading north on the zoo road and you'll eventually reach Utopia. Under German leadership and related to the Utopia at Sihanoukville, this seriously hidden-away spot is situated on the Kampot River around 7km north of Kampot town -- on the... more
