Plain place, nice spot

Set at the northern end of Kampot, the Kampot River View Guesthouse doesn't make as much use of its riverside location as it could. Rooms are adequate -- they're mostly fan-cooled, clean and come with cable TV and private bathrooms but are nothing to get too excited about. Although rooms are plain, it's a bargain to get a river view at these prices. The best thing is the restaurant, which is right on the river and has great sunset views. Food, a mix of Western and Khmer, is affordable. Very limited English is spoken, but staff try hard. The guesthouse is just north of Kampot's new bridge across the river.

Kampot River View Guesthouse reviews

Not bad, great moto guides - 25th April, 2009
After having a look at the only available room at Little Garden Bar and Guesthouse, a bright, but tiny, no air-con affair for the relatively steep rate of US$10, we took our tuk-tuk's recommendation to have a look at Riverview GH. For $5, we had a MUCH bigger room right on the river, with river views even, and two huge fans that kept thing relatively cool. Not a bad, basic place at all, but there was a bit of tour pressure on arrival. We did not use them for the trip up to Bokor, the pick-up trip up with Sok Lim was a good value at $10, included a tasty lunch spread at the ranger station and a sunset boat trip back to town. We did use the guesthouse motodops for a couple of days to explore the area, Kep/Koh Tonsay, pepper plantations, cave, etc; guides were excellent and quite cheap, made for a couple of very fun, interesting days exploring. quiet, friendly, family-run GH

Great budget choice - 26th April, 2009
Located right on the river , this is the only truely ''riverfront'' guesthouse in town. Family run with the guest rooms on the upper floor and several standalone rooms with fan on the river front. The main review states they are all fan rooms , but they have one air-con room in the main house. We paid $7 for a very large fan room in the main house , not stylish or modern but clean in all the right places and with TV. Clear views of Bokor hill and the river from the room or the balcony in the hall way. The restaurant is ok for breakfast and drinks and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Some pressure for tours , but we wanted tours anyway so it was not a problem. No internet access here.

Nice relaxed place - 11th December, 2006
Stayed there for three nights, US$5 for a double room of good size with a view over the river. They also have a nice restaurant just by the river where you can sit and watch the sun set. Good food, even though the menu sometimes is quite funny because of their English. It's true that many of the staff speak little English, but they are really nice and helpful and always get someone else if they don't understand what you want. They also arrange tours and bus tickets for you.
