Description
Set at the northern end of Kampot, the Kampot River View Guesthouse doesn't make as much use of its riverside location as it could. Rooms are adequate -- they're all fan-cooled, clean and come with cable TV and private bathrooms but are nothing to get too excited about. The best thing is the restaurant which is right on the river and has great sunset views. Food, a mix of western and Khmer is affordable. Very limited English is spoken, but the staff try hard. The guesthouse is just past Kampot's new bridge across the river.

Stayed there for three nights, US$5 for a double room of good size with a view over the river. They also have a nice restaurant just by the river where you can sit and watch the sun set. Good food, even though the menu sometimes is quite funny because of their English. It's true that many of the staff speak little English, but they are really nice and helpful and always get someone else if they don't understand what you want. They also arrange tours and bus tickets for you.
Not bad, but i'm sure much better in town - ![]()

After having a look at the only available room at Little Garden Bar and Guesthouse, a bright, but very tiny, no air-con affair for the outrageous sum of US$10, we took our tuk-tuk's recommendation to have a look at Riverview. For $5, we had a MUCH bigger room room right on the river, with river views even, and two huge fans that kept thing pretty cool. Not a bad, basic place at all, but there is a bit of tour pressure on arrival. The English-speaking moto guide they use is excellent, although if you need two driver, he will likely bring his very friendly but non-English speaking uncle. They took us on a great trip to Kep.
