Description
Long Villa is at the northern end of Kampot on the road leading to the new bridge, and has its accommodation set in a two storey building back off the main road. Rooms are mostly good and clean -- the cheapest are pretty ordinary, but their larger mid-priced rooms are quite good value for Kampot. There's also a fair supply of travel information available and the management are happy to arrange all manner of onwards travel. This guesthouse is a short walk from the river and the central market, but you're quite a stroll from most of the western-orientated eateries in Kampot. Like many places, if business is slow, ask for a discount.

nice place, friendly people, good restaurant, but I don't like animals in my room. Also pretty noisy at night, dogs barking all night ...

My room was a twin with fan, private bath and TV, all for only US$4. The staff are very helpful, and the restaurant was good. On the down side, I organised a moto to take me to the border with one of their guys, whom never showed up, leaving me in the pouring rain, waiting for another driver to pass by. oh well.

I was taken here by a taxi driver who would not give me my suitcase until I would look at the rooms, who was then slipped cash by the receptionist as he left. The room was nice and a good deal, but I was unknowingly overcharged $2 for the guesthouse's tour to Bokor by a receptionist. Restaurant food was very good. On my second night, the key broke off in the lock and the staff put me in an empty room rather than trying to address the problem. They didn't fix it until almost noon the next day and I did not get a discount, and worried I would miss the bus out of town. The owner became rude to me in the morning, as if it were my fault. I would not recommend Long Villa due to difficulties with the staff.

Long Villa has a homely feel. The staff are really friendly and helpful especially this one guy whose name I still don't know. A bit put off by the chirping of the birds in the morning at the windows though. Suspect the birds built their nests there. The bathroom was kinda small.

The room we had at Long Villa Guesthouse (fan, private bathroom, tv- US$4) was acceptable for the price. The main problem was that the hotel sent several touts to the bus station that pressed and pressed us into coming to the guesthouse. We decided to look at a couple of others on our own first and they were quite rude to us at that point. Later, when we ended up staying at their hotel anyway, there was a fair amount of pressure to take a tour, as well as use their other services. All in all, though, a decent budget place.

Just up the road from Blissful, Kampot has spotless, well-sized rooms priced across a range of budgets. There's also a large terrace and a restaurant on site serving Khmer and limited western food. Kampot River View Guesthouse
Riverside, northern end of Kampot
Set at the northern end of Kampot, the Kampot River View Guesthouse doesn't make as much use of its riverside location as it could. Rooms are adequate -- they're all fan-cooled, clean and come with cable TV and private bathrooms but are nothing to get too excited about. The best thing is the... more
