Vanna Bungalows
A good value place with a homely feel

What we say:
Just across the dirt trail from Veranda, Vanna is another spot very popular with travellers, Khmers and expats alike. It has a homely feel and the management are friendly and hospitable. The well-sized bungalows are a mix of concrete and wood (the cheaper ones are wood), with a homey, comfortable feel and porches, although the twin beds are quite narrow. They are all set behind the small restaurant with fine ocean views. The vista isn't quite as good here as at its neighbours and Vanna's restaurant doesn't quite have the charm of Veranda, but if you're budget conscious, the rooms here are better value and all up private stone steps, flanked by gardens, with different decor and privacy. A few rooms aren't ocean facing but the same price as those that are, so be sure to specify you want a seaview one when you book or see a few rooms when you visit. Spectacular sunset views.

rude.
Front desk boy was pretty rude, embarrasingly so. Enough so that I just stayed at Seaside, same price but on the water though the rooms are less attractive. The bungalows at Vanna look nice and price is reasonable and I would have stayed there but I didn't like his attitude.

Beautiful views, homey atmosphere, less than stellar service
You pay for what you get here. We stayed in the $12 fan rooms, which were spotless and had a great porch with hammock. Wi-fi only worked in the restaurant, and was somewhat slow. Food was decent, and competively priced, but you'll have to chase them down to place an order. The views are indeed spectacular, and the grounds are beautiful arranged. Was great to sit and read in the afternoon and then watch the sunset. Will arrange tours for you, but they are not cheap. The manager on-duty during our stay was unhelpful at best, sometimes outright rude, and we had a difficult time communicating with him. For $12 a night, it was good value.

Lovely Spot
Prices went up a bit; airco room is now 25 USD. Staff is friendly, great food and the views are spectacular. Nice guesthouse.

Lovely place for relaxing
As the beach at Kep isn't anything to even begin to write home about, the view from a hammock from the higher level bungalows as the sun sets more than makes up for it. Inside, the bungalow is really cosy, but all the wood does make for a few bed bugs! The food is fine (water was really over-priced as I remember though) and you can arrange a hassle-free boat to Rabbit Island for 6-8 dollars a head (much higher than the supposed ''real'' price, but I didn't meet any non-locals who had managed to get a decent price on their own).
