This was one of Kep's flasher digs near the shore, boasting a large pool big enough for laps, and spacious adjoining-bungalow styled rooms. The bungalows are all duplex, with air-con and hot water, and have large open-air bathrooms almost as big as the bedroom. The place was empty when we last visited, and judging from reader reviews, it's plain why. Kep's main attraction is its spectacular views, and you'll miss those if you stay here, since the place isn't on the ocean nor is it on a hill overlooking it. The rooms are pretty clean, though there were definitely some mould issues when we last passed through. The gardens are lovely and the pool pleasant. The place seemed somewhat over staffed, which can be a bit off-putting if you're wanting to relax by the pool in solitude. The restaurant serves a range of seafood specialties and is famous for its barracuda, but you're well advised to enquire as to whether the particularly chatty and hospitable French manager is actually there when you stay, as the kitchen can take a very long time to produce anything when he's not. There's a second set of rooms further around the headland, which mainly deal with overflow in the busy periods.

Green pool - 3rd May, 2007
I love Kep, and I decided to check out Champey Inn on my last trip. The pool was green and gross -- based on other reviews the rooms and staff aren't great either. Drop by and have a look before you stay there.

Trés trés décevant... staff médiocre! - 15th October, 2006
A DECONSEILLER FORTEMENT!

Dissapointing - 24th September, 2006
Not sure what all the hype is about for this place. On the plus side the full size pool is the only one in Kep, and the gardens surrounding the rooms are very nice. The staff are good as well and there is a feeling of privacy in the hotel. But the rooms are pretty plain, the beds are horrible and the bathrooms are not so good -- outdoor bathrooms are nice -- but not when they have brown water and are not clean. We actually saw a rat running along the wood beams inside the room on our last morning. The location is close to the water -- but not the beach. Unfortunately being right down on the water means you do not get to enjoy the breeze that the places further up the hill get. The rooms were very very hot and humid and the fan was OK, until they turned off power each night. The food is very expensive for Kep and the three meals we had were OK, very bad, and OK. For US$40 (plus VAT???) I think you can find better beds and meals elsewhere. Unless you are desperate for the full size pool, this should not be your first choice in Kep.
