You can't miss the motel-style Beach House, plonked onto the east bank of Kep's main beach. Like the Star Inn across the bay, four-year-old Beach House doesn't even try to blend into the surrounds, and it unfortunately hasn't taken as much advantage of the views -- which include the eponymous giant mermaid -- as it could have, opting for long, shared balconies, rather than private ones. The family room, though it doesn't face the ocean, is the only room with a private veranda. Each room, however, has outdoor chairs, though it's unlikely you'll spend much time lounging on this thin stretch of tile. That said, its 16 rooms are spotless -- and we mean spotless -- and they're kitted out with good comfy beds and all the amenities to make a vacation comfortable, including both air-con and fans, as well as TVs and super-hot showers. It's also got a small swimming pool lined in stone and an attached spa, bar and restaurant. We'd say Beach House is more suited to expatriates with kids wanting a with-the-frills weekend away, rather than to backpackers or flashpackers seeking bargains or style, but it does fine as a mid-range option.

The Beach House reviews

Read 2 opinions from Travelfish readers

The best in Kep! - 3rd May, 2007
For these very reasonable prices you get very very clean rooms with very nice furniture, air-con, satellite TV, fridge and gas hot water! That means it's hot! and it doesn't run out! The pool and spa are by far the nicest in the area. The restaurant is a great place to relax and the food is pretty tasty! From crabs to pavlova! Try the "teeny collada" (non-alcoholic cocktail). The power stays on 24 hours and the staff are great. Great family atmosphere overall. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

Nice pool - 23rd November, 2006
This place is clean with a very nice pool and great sunset views from the common veranda area. Easy place to crash. The kids loved the pool.
