Cosy and quiet
Almost equidistant between the beach and the crab market (about 400 metres each way), The Boat House is a relaxed garden-set hideaway.
The guesthouse is actually two Khmer houses set about 100 metres apart. The front house, closest to the road, contains the reception, the kitchen and slightly cheaper rooms, while the house behind has larger rooms and a big TV lounge. Rooms vary in decor and amenities, so it's worth looking at both residences before you make your choice. There's some sweet design touches, like curtains made from kramas and beds fashioned from railway sleepers. These elevate The Boat House from an ordinary budget guesthouse. There's plenty of shady spaces to lounge around and chat, and also a pool table, books and games for whiling away lazy afternoons in between naps. For the more active, motorbikes can be hired. The kitchen serves up tasty Khmer and French dishes, including big fluffy omelettes. The Boat House is favoured by families and travellers looking for a friendly, quiet stay.
