Not strictly in Kep, but about 15km out in pepper country, The Vine Retreat combines relaxing, healthy eating and rural tranquility.
Situated in a beautiful large wooden house, the guesthouse is surrounded by an organic market garden, pepper plantation, a salt water pool and shady spots for lounging. The very clean and airy eight rooms are arranged over two floors, with solar heated hot water, ceiling fans and mosquito nets over comfortable wooden beds. The tasteful decor is enchanced by bourganvillea flowers peeping through wooden shutters. The large upstairs yoga deck has ample cushions for a book or chat-filled afternoon if you're taking the day off from trekking or exploring on a free to use bicycle. A tuk tuk to Kep costs from $7 if you want to go further afield. The restaurant can cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and raw diets and the mid-range menu has an emphasis on organic, unprocessed dishes, with an inclusive breakfast featuring homemade yoghurt, crepes and freshly made bread. The kitchen makes full use of the vegetable patches -- it's a treat to see your salad being picked from the garden where you're dining. The Vine Retreat often hosts yoga and meditation weekends, so it's best to book ahead to ensure you can stay. WiFI available in communal areas and upstairs rooms.
