Simple and authentic
What we say:
M'pay Bay Bungalows is named after the small fishing village where they are located. The simple wood and thatch bungalows look out onto the sea over a rocky beach, with some tent accommodation for the very budget conscious. There's nothing fancy -- the bathrooms all have scoop-bucket showers and electricity is available from 18:00 24:00 -- but the bungalows are perfectly adequate, the staff are chilled-out and accommodating and it's in a beautiful location. The rocks give way to yellow sanded Long Beach with excellent snorkelling possibilities. If you're sensitive to noise you may want to bring earplugs -- village life wouldn't be complete without a few crowing roosters and barking dogs. A quarter of proceeds from the bungalows go to the neighbouring Marine Conservation Cambodia who have a team of volunteers working at the bay. They are also happy to have visitors volunteer to work on various projects such as beach cleanups. Although the bungalow management sometimes seems a bit disorganised, the M'pay Bay Bungalows are a great way to see more of Cambodia than tourists usually do.
