Serendipity Beach
Sihanoukville Province

Description
Hidden away in the trees at the western end of the beach, barang-run Cloud 9 is easily the best value spot on Serendipity Beach. With a very pleasant, welcoming atmosphere and comfortable wooden and thatch bungalows with an attention to detail you rarely see in backpacker-targeted bungalows, Cloud 9 attracts a steady backpacker crowd and with good reason. The bungalows are well maintained and the bathrooms spotless, while downstairs has a pleasant restaurant and bar area. The beachfront is rocky, but it is just a short walk to a decent stretch of sand. Some of the bungalows have great views. If you're visiting over a weekend try to get there early to be in with a chance of a room, as Cloud 9 do not take reservations. Highly recommended.

I was only meant to stay four nights... ended up nearly three weeks! I really fell in love with this place. Great staff, food, atmosphere and an amazing view. It was a few dollars more expensive than some other places, but trust me -- worth every cent to escape the mayhem (and loud horrible music) of the main stretch. Will definitely be back next year. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Great bungalows and great breeze. The curries and Amok were fantastic and Paul the bartender is the coolest kid ever, the pets too are groovy! Definitely check out the Top Cat movie house up the hill and some of the islands in the area.

As most of the Lonely Planet top rated locations, the guesthouse was full when I arrived. The3 priced are higher than 10 USD. I have been staying next door, at the COVE BEACH BUNGALOW. They are absolutely perfect, have all the perfect hamock you are dreaming about and the perfect seaview with a great sunset. I think this is absolutely the best place in the area.

Bungalow for 3 people, fan, ensuite, balcony with hammock, mosquito net = $12

Located on edge of Serendipity Beach makes this a quiet, peaceful place to stay. Chill out on the hammocks or by the bar, overlooking the ocean - great place to catch a beautiful sunset. Friendly staff. Def worth the few extra dollars.

Cloud 9 dont take bookings but if your lucky enough to get a room youុr in paradise. Great bungalows, chilled view and great staff. If you get the chance to meet Joe the new ownerុំ your in for a fun time, he is as chilled as you can get. If they are booked out check out The Cove Beach Bungalows two doors down that have brilliant rooms, brilliant views and a very HELPFUL owner called Richard

Stayed for 4 nights. Perfect location and atmosphere for relaxing by the beach. Order the garlic prawns and potatos - best dish all trip. This place is setting a standard for the rest of the area to follow.

I spent two nights here over Memorial Day weekend. It was wonderful. The bungalows have great views of the sea, and spent a great deal of time on the hammock in my balconyjust watching the fishermen in the sea. I would go back in a second. Patrick and Julia (the owners) are extremely nice.

Eden
Serendipity Beach
When this place developed and expanded it caused some controversy among other guesthouse owners, as it was perceived as changing the feel of the beach. Like it or lump it, it seems throbbing music is here to stay, pretty much drowning out the excellent and more mellow music selection of nearby... more

Seaview Villa
On the trail down to Serendipity Beach
This rather charmless guesthouse sits on the dirt road leading down to Serendipity Beach. While the rooms are cleanish and all have cold-water showers, the main asset here is the sizeable rooftop terrace. There is a travel agent and internet cafe on the ground... more

Coasters Guesthouse
On the trail down to Serendipity Beach
Owned by the same people who run Coasters down on the beach, this large guesthouse is far better value with very clean rooms in a two storey house that runs back a surprisingly long way from the road. There is a spacious and very quiet restaurant downstairs. Popular with those on a... more

The Beach
On the trail down to Serendipity Beach
The Beach is one of the cluster of places on the dirt road leading to Serendipity Beach. A laid back and sleepy spot -- so sleepy we had to wake up the staff to see a room -- this is a good near-the-beach budegt option. The rooms are ok, a little on the scruffy side with aging bathrooms, but there... more
