GST Guesthouse
Biggest but not the best

What we say:
GST Guesthouse is owned by the same-named bus company and the place has the atmosphere of a bus station. We've heard that GST pays by far the highest commissions of any guesthouse in Sihanoukville, so don't be surprised if your motodop starts telling you it is the best place to stay — it isn't. Rooms are clean but charmless; the staff are indifferent; the food is mediocre at best. The place has a backpacker factory feel to it, and a bad reputation among long-term residents of the town who all seem to have horror stories to share about the place. Unexpected surcharges are common. On the plus side, they always have rooms available and during high season are one of the cheapest options in town. If you plan to stay here, bring a lock for your bag.

Good room no charm.
We stayed here for 3 nights. The room and bathroom is spacious. We even had a sort of a closet. So the room was great. There is no common area but a restaurant with ok food for ok prices. We paid 5USD for a double room with fan. So if your looking for a place to chill out it's no fun.. But you can do that on the beach. So would surely come again.

DO NOT STAY HERE
Our tuk-tuk driver took us to GST even though we told him we had reservations at another hotel. He took us to a first location quite far from the beach and we said we wanted to be on the beach at the place we had reservations - so he took us to ANOTHER GST guest house location near the beach. We got out since our attempts were futile and took a look at the rooms - they were horrible. One room they showed me had a shower that was totally under construction and there was mud everywhere. The guy told me it was no problem to shower next to the mess. We left and found our hotel recommended in the Lonely Planet. However, our struggle with GST was not over - we purchased a bus ticket from our hotel and were told we needed to be picked up at GST (seems all pick-ups are from here since it is a transportation hub). When we went there, the staff were rude and demanded to know where we had bought the bus ticket. We asked them if the bus was coming to pick us up and they ignored us and told us to sit. We bought a water in the hopes they would view us more as a ''client'' but this did not work. The bus didn't come and by this time it was getting VERY late. We asked the staff again if they could help us and they replied that since we hadn't bought our bus ticket from them, they would not call to check up on our bus. By this time, it was too late and we were on the verge of missing our bus, so we paid a tuk-tuk driver to take us to the bus depot. Please do not stay here. These places need to learn that they can't force you to stay there based on your tuk-tuk driver and be jerks if you don't buy tickets from them. There are much nicer and friendlier places to stay - like the Cove Beach Huts or Above Us Only Sky.

Spacious room, clean
We stayed at the new location. We paid for a double room with deactivated aircon $13. The room was spacious and very clean. Unfortunately the windows are as everywhere in SE-Asia very thin so we could hear the noise from the neighbouring restaurant in the night. But with earplugs it was tolerable. The beach is only a few metres away. We would stay here again.

New location
GST has a guesthouse right at the junction where you can walk to the right and hit the Serendipidy Bungalows or go left and hit the beac shacks. Its a huge operation, lots of rooms, and we were taken here by our tuk tuk driver at first. Stayed here our second night after the beach bungalow and it was decent. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, no elevator to the 4th floor, but all things considered it wasn't bad. I walked in to the cleaners using my girlfriends tweezers to pluck a few hairs. Gross right? She talked to management and they paid us the price of the tweezers.

GST - thumbs up!
Hi, We just stayed in GST guesthouse and we liked it! The rooms were clean and sheets/towels changed every other day, the staff were friendly and it's within spitting distance of the beach! What more could you want? Em
