What we say: 
The Cool Banana isn't quite as popular as neighbouring Monkey Republic, but it's not for lack of trying. They've got multiple hammocks around their large restaurant and bar and more than a few places to chill out with free WiFi. They also boast Sihanoukville's largest hamburger: it's 1 kg of beef, and if you finish it on your own you get a free pitcher of beer. The bungalows in the back are nothing to write home about, but they'll do in a pinch. From the outside they are similar to the bungalows elsewhere on Serendipity Beach Rd but their upkeep hasn't been held to the highest standard, and when we visited they were beset by chronic power supply problems that didn't seem to affect their neighbours. That said, they're clean enough and at $8 during the high season, they're also good value. Bring earplugs as even the back rooms can hear the ruckus from Utopia. Another selling point is a movie projector with ample seating, with four free movies screened every afternoon and evening.

Meh. Not recommended.
We paid $7 / night for a bungalow with a fan, two single beds, and an ensuite bathroom with a cold water shower. They played really loud music until the wee hours the first night we were there and until about midnight the second night. They put food on our tab that we didn't order and didn't have the correct number of nights that we stayed, either. The local staff are super friendly and courteous; however, one of the two managers was kind of a jerk. The floor in our bungalow was dirty, there were still cigarette butts in the ashtray, and the pillowcase smelled really funky, like dirty hair. They provided a towel but no top sheet. There's a small locker in the bungalow to lock your valuables. When we booked a bus ticket with the travel agency inside, we specifically asked for the Capitol bus, and she said yes and sold us the tickets; then when the pickup came, it was Phnom Penh Sorya (fine company, but a smaller bus). Not at all impressed with this place.
