Great beachside bungalows
Up a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it dirt road at the bottom of the hill on 2 Thnou Street, this boutique resort has been built in two stages, with some lovely bungalows stretching between the road and the beach, and a string of connected concrete rooms above the road.
The bungalows are very tasteful and boast spacious verandas with gorgeous views, and are set in lush gardens. The hacienda-style rooms on the far side of the road, which don’t have sea views, are well-decorated and simple, sporting sparse but rich furnishings and calming hues. On the sea-side, the bungalows with ocean views and surrounding swaying vegetation wind their way up a steep hill and are very picturesque. Unlike many other bungalows, some of them feature tile flooring, and have a much higher standard of finishing than you’d find for similar prices elsewhere. The restaurant view is fabulous, and the furnishings and ambiance have an old-world loveliness that you don’t often see anywhere. If you want a splurge, and can book one of the bungalows near the water, this is a fine choice.
