A sight to behold
The renovated Independence is strikingly situated on the bluff above Independence Beach and is a sight to behold.
Much of the original architecture was maintained throughout construction giving the place a retro feel while still maintaining an air of elegance. The distinguished lobby is open and bright and suggests a tranquillity that the hotel as a whole encapsulates. Rooms are lovely and spacious with plush carpeting, deep soaking tubs and huge windows to take in the scenery. The pool is delightful with a whimsical backdrop that would look ridiculous anywhere else, but works effortlessly here. Framed photos of the hotel in the 1960s can be found all over the hotel — Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis stayed here, and they've opened a new bar called the History Lounge as a nod to the hotel's storied past. This is a place that works hard to maintain an environment of ease, and you're sure to settle in to the pampering rather quickly.
