The Small Hotel
Feels like home
What we say:
This homely spot was one of the few guesthouses in the area that survived after the nearby bus station was replaced by a commercial complex.
The hotel's location down an alley behind Ekareach Street near the Caltex petrol station is not a drawing point, but the owners make up for it by offering exceptional service and a free ride to their sister establishment, the Small Beach Bar on Independence Beach.
Great food is available at both the beach bar and a pleasant garden dining area at the hotel -- try Henrick's Swedish meatballs or one of Mom's home-style Khmer dishes.
Rooms are neat and comfortable and all are outfitted with hot water, air-con, TVs and DVD players. The small, friendly staff who have been with the hotel for years seem like part of the family, and they make you feel like part of the family, too. With only 11 rooms, Small Hotel does stay true to its name, so book ahead to avoid missing out.
