Sokha Beach Resort
First and only five-star resort in Sihanoukville

What we say:
This sprawling resort was the first five-star option available in Sihanoukville. Its style is definitely oriented more towards the Asian market, with an ostentatious lobby not really fashionable by Western boutique resort standards. Staff are lovely and helpful. The gardens have come into themselves and are lush and tropical, and the enormous pool has a slightly exposed feel, although with such a great beach outside, you shouldn't be spending too long by it anyway. The beach itself is decked out with plush recliners and umbrellas and the white sand is immaculately maintained and trash free. Rooms are immaculate and spacious and come with all the amenities you would expect. On offer to guests are a fitness centre with sauna and steam bath, a children's playground, a spa, and free daily shuttles around Sihanoukville. In addition to the room types listed below, the Sokha has an array of lavish suites and villas — check their website for details and rates. The rates below are about half of their published ones and are available online and at the hotel directly.

An Island of Luxury
Sokha beach was always the best in the area -- the hotel now owns the whole beach. The result is that it is clean, quiet and free of any hawkers, beggars or anything else that would bother you. The hotel is meets the highest level of international standards- so for the price you are getting good value. Rates are now up a bit- starting at 73USD for a resident- US$105 for tourists. The spa is OK, the pool is nice. The restaurant at the end of the beach is fantastic. One warning, this is becoming the choice of destination for expat families from Phnom Penh. The resort can be filled with kids on weekends.

Need to learn more
We stayed at Sokha beach -- very luxurious and really 5star - except the service ... For serving European guests, they have to learn a little bit more!
