The Green Gecko was formerly known as Victory Guesthouse and offers spartan though pretty clean basic backpacker fare in a multi-level sprawling concrete house on the edge of Victory Hill. It is certainly cheap -- amongst the cheapest in the area, so if you're on a tight budget it is worth a look.

The staff here are really friendly. They have good, reasonable priced food. 5 minute walk to Victory Beach (good to get away from the crowds) or they will take you for free to any of the other beaches (and pick you up). You can also borrow books from their great selection for free.
