Victory Beach Hotel

Don't be put off by the casino

What we say: 4 stars

Victory Beach Hotel is immediately connected to the growing Queenco Casino complex right on Victory Beach itself, but this isn't your typical casino hotel.

In fact, the hotel is very much a separate entity with a laidback and welcoming atmosphere that wouldn't be a bad fit for couples or even families seeking comfort and value on their beach holiday.

Standard rooms are stylishly decorated and come with air-con, cable TVs, fridges, lock-boxes and private hot-water bathrooms, while an extra $10 (or $15 in high season) bags you a balcony. Shell out more still and you could have your very own beachfront suite with separated living room.

The on-site A'Chaar restaurant offers consistently tasty food to go with unforgettable sunsets, and hey, if it's crummy out there's always a slot machine with your name on it just a short walk away.

Victory Beach is often fully booked in high season so it's smart to book ahead.

Rob has always had a knack for living in places that are on the cusp of change, but none has compared to the coast of Cambodia.
