While their PR boasts four-star accommodation at two-star prices it's more a case of two-star accommodation at two-star prices. A very popular backpacker and flashpacker spot, this is very good value for Siem Reap, with very clean and comfortable rooms. However, we've received a number of complaints regarding reservations being lost or not honoured -- if you're planning on staying, reconfirm, reconfirm and reconfirm again. We've also heard that the front desk clerk is rude, and when we visited, we experienced curt responses to our inquiries. The entrance is lush and green, and looks from the outside like a pricier establishment. The rooms are brightly painted and come with clean, well maintained bathrooms, and, as there are plenty of rooms, this is a good option to try in high season when places are filling up. They all come with hot showers, cable TV, and minibar. Plus, they throw in a bunch of freebies that make up for the lacklustre service -- WiFi, bicycles, basic breakfast and even a 20-minute massage upon check-in.

Great place - 4th August, 2009
This accommodation made Seam Riep fantastic. The facilities they boast are awesome; free internet, free bike hire and free 20min. massage, free introduction drink. The rooms are spotless and well designed, very pleasant with TV. The garden is also enveloping and romantic. The restaurant is cheap and has great khmer food and free pool. The staff are very honest and helpful. Unsure what could beat this place!

Nice Place, Good Value - 11th July, 2009
Spent a week here end of Dec./beginning of Jan. My first stay with them was 5 years ago, and they have completely remodeled the place, and the new bathrooms are spotless. Food at restaurant next door is good as always and the beer is cold! Staff is friendly but they sometimes have flaky tuk-tuk drivers- you can find better guys on the street! The place is very convenient- just a few mintues on foot to pub street, little convenience store, old market, etc.
Oh, the massage girls- ha ha! Not a very professional bunch at all, but a couple of them did do a good job. I had an hour massage and it was only a few dollars, totally worth it!

Surroundings nicer than staff - 22nd April, 2009
We stayed in a triple at the Golden Temple Villa while recently in Siem Reap - the upsides were many...lovely decoration, comfortable room with balcony, free internet access, on-site cafe with movies in the evenings (and great food!), beautiful garden with comfy seating and hammocks. The downside? Some of the staff were less than helpful and downright rude at times, the bathrooms weren't in great condition and the ''free 20 minute massage'' while a nice intention, left us needing a much longer massage (from a professional) as the Khmer massage girls seemed completely untrained (not to mention unprofessional).
Finally, although we paid a deposit, we were charged the full amount at check out. It was our fault for not remembering but when I emailed the hotel (after we left), they were happy to return the deposit - very honorable.
All in all, for a serene place to return to after a long day of temple hopping, this is a great bet!

Nice Hotel - 22nd August, 2007
This was a very nice hotel, with good clean rooms and helpful staff. However beware of their pricing regime. We were quoted a price, then after our transport had left, the price went up by one dollar a night!. We paid the price up front and then were told it was an extra three dollars to unlock the fridge in our room !. All that aside though it was a very relaxing place to stay, with unlimited free bananas, great if your a monkey

Decent Compared to the Rest - 11th March, 2006
This place is down a side street and is very quiet, which is definitely a bonus in this loud place. The room was okay and was comparable to many rooms we stayed at in Cambodia. It would be overpriced anywhere else. The service was okay but the owner is a bit stand-offish when it counts. It's a decent place to stage out of in order to see the temples.

Great value, fun vibe! - 4th June, 2009
Loved the vibrant colors, loved the decorations. Our room was clean, and with good wi-fi connection too! We had free fruit and cold tea and a free 20-minute heavenly massage.
Staff was really helpful, and speaks good English. Tuktuk arrangements right at the desk.
Food was good, and not so very expensive.
Bathrooms in the rooms could use a little renovation though.

reconfirmations needed. - 6th May, 2009
The bedroom was definitely clean and facilities in great working condition. However, do reconfirm your bookings with them prior to arrival. Call if needed. Nice surroundings and great value meals included.

No problems..... - 9th January, 2009
Situated on a small side road, 5 mins walk from the old town and market, Golden Temple Villa was an attractive little hotel. We stayed for two nights in a pretty small but adequate room with aircon. A bit of confusion when we first checked in as we were unable to get to a phone and had only confirmed via email however they still had a room for us. A free green tea on arrival and a free 20min massage were much appreciated and the internet in the lobby was free also! The staff spoke great English and were happy to arrange transfers for us.
The attached restaurant does fast and cheap breakfasts - early enough to make sure you can get to the temples before the tour groups.

cant complain - 30th July, 2008
Came here from China and was favourably impressed even though we were talked into it by a taxi driver after the place we had chosen didnt stack up at all. Fun restaurant with enjoyable breakfasts. Agree with some of the comments re staff in hotel section. They didnt lie outright they just avoided the truth (maybe aspiring politicians). Be careful buying tickets here. The laundry in the chemist straight across the road did a great job the first time and had an absolute shocker the second go,I think they knew we were leaving that day.

Pretty good for the money - 17th December, 2007
I stayed here for three nights and didn't encounter any of the problems listed by other users. My airport pickup was fine, the tuk-tuk driver (Mr. Chet) was nice, the staff was quite friendly, the Internet worked and there were no extra charges. The restaurant is quite good but it is kind of annoying that you can't bill charges to your room (you also have to pay for the entire stay up front, which I wasn't thrilled about). The room is adequate but nothing special-- decorated cute, but the housekeeping was lackluster and the shower was basically a hose coming out of the wall. I don't think my bedlinens were changed once during my stay.
Overall, I wasn't unhappy with my stay here but it did make me realize that I prefer my accomodations a bit more upscale. I would recommend this place to backpackers (the location is great, quiet and convenient) but not to those who like a little more luxury or anyone hoping for a midrange accomodation at a budget price.

Our favorite Cambodian guesthouse - 6th March, 2007
My fiance and I stayed here for about 5 nights. We had a GREAT time...we were picked up at the bus station (for free), taken back, where reception was so lovely and kind. The free internet is great, as well as the free coffee and tea and bananas whenever you want. They cleaned the room everyday and left clean towels. The food at their little restaurant is EXCELLENT. The pizzas are remarkable, the Khmer specialties (set meals) are outstanding, breakfast and baguettes are good...we really enjoyed the food there. Best guest-house food in all our travels. Really close to the old market, so walking out for shopping was easy. Felt really safe, although there are several red-lighted 'massage' places. hehe...as well as several laundry places. hmmm...interesting combo. We had a tuk-tuk guy for the whole time we were there. Sweet kid, rather new, with minimal English. But he took us all over, and there was absolutely no scamming. We didn't want to leave...they really are so nice there. Friendliest staff of all the places we'd stayed a, best food, and such a nice little garden-esque location. Highly recommend it to couples/people seeking a little less 'backpackery' scene.
All in all, excellent choice.

I usually don't do this but... - 30th January, 2007
If we had to do it over again, we would have stayed elsewhere. While the rooms were ok and the majority of the staff were pleasant, we had problems with our reservation (made online) when they gave our room away because of what they said was a miscommunication about our arrival location and time. They did put us up in another guesthouse but it was still inconvient. And the tuk-tuk driver we hired at the guesthouse tried many times to scam us. Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience.

A very good time - 4th January, 2007
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at Golden Temple Villa very much. Our room was spacious with nice sunlight and we liked the interior design pretty much. The toilet was a bit of a disappointment though, as the heater was occasionally not working well. We had good chats and nice laughs with the receptionists and the people working there were really nice to us. The free tea we had, and internet service was a good throw in to what we paid for our fan room, $9 - $10. :) And we liked the beds too, it was a bit bigger than we expected! From the tuk2 driver that picked us up till the end of the stay, Golden Temple Villa treated us really well. Keep up the good work and hope to see you all the next time we visit again.

Mediocre - 6th September, 2006
I stayed at Golden Temple Villa last month and wasn't too impressed. One of the male receptionist at this place was boderline rude. He is one of those people who you doubt, right off the bat, how genuine they are. At first, he was really friendly but after recieving payment, he started to get rude. Things that I disliked about this place: - the fact that they demand the key when you leave to go anywhere. I don't mind leaving my key but when I others start accusing me of being paranoid that's when the problems come in. Another thing that I didn't care for too much is the bathroom. I don't know if we were unlucky but we got a room with a extremely dirty bathroom. I'm of average height and the shower head came up to my chest area so when I took a shower, I would constantly have to crouch over in order to fit. The drain in the tub is super slow... which is just nasty and the bathroom floor is also pretty filthy.

Not recommended at all - 4th May, 2006
We made an online booking through travelfish. First, nobody picked us up in the airport, although numerous emails have been exchanged prior to the trip, followed by a phone call. The booking fee charged by this website was ignored and they still demanded we pay a full amount of $18 per room/night with aircon. I lost my booking fee. They ignored the printed booking confirmation, not friendly and helpful at all. The receptionists have intimidated looks. Bathroom was dirty, smelly and the water was stuck in the bathtub *yikes* The lovely trip would be perfect if not because of the experience w/ this hotel. Everything else was fabulous.

Good room, shame about the service - 31st January, 2006
No complaints about the rooms, which are quite new and modern with proper cable TV. Also the price was reasonable. But the service was awful - the free pick up service was nowhere to be seen, laundry service took 48 hours (after a promise of 24 hours), our room was not properly cleaned and the internet wasn't working the entire time we were there. Also, they had a strange insistence on being paid immediately for extras like laundry and bottled water - no ''put it on my room'' here.

Excellent! - 7th August, 2005
Extremely clean and cheap. Paid $7/night for double room with fan and hot water. Nicely furnished room with new linens and television. 15 minutes of free internet access each day. Decent cafe and friendly staff.
