Jasmine continues to grow and thrive under the apt leadership of Mr Kunn, who's Boss according to his card. Unfortunately, with the growth has come a jump in prices, and the conversion of $2 rooms with share bathrooms into pricier private bathroom options. Because of this, it's lost some of its appeal as a good budget option. Jasmine still has a broad range of rooms and regardless of price are well maintained and clean. If you're a light sleeper, go for a room in the building at the rear, as traffic noise is a bit of an issue. There's an open-air, second-floor restaurant with a pool table and an amiable atmosphere. It's a popular place and in high season well worth making a reservation. Kunn has a second property across the road and down a dirt side street that mainly deals with overflow and also houses some volunteers occasionally. Jasmine is around a 10-minute walk from the heart of the action, but it's still a fine choice. We've heard mixed reviews about the friendliness of the owner and staff, but the receptionist who showed us around when we visited was very welcoming and helpful. Those who want hot water but no air-con pay $1 less. Breakfast is included.

Wonderful Experience - 27th December, 2009
OK so anyone reading the reviews of this place obviously can tell that the management is writing or paying people to write these amazing reviews about the guesthouse, perhaps to counter bad reviews or false reviews of competitors. Well, I am none of the above. I saw the the temples of Angkor with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and stayed at Jasmine for 4 nights. This place, while a good walk from the pub street, night market, new market, etc, is a GREAT option at the price. We paid 9 bucks a night for a double bed, fan room, warm shower, tv, breakfast included, and a clean room everyday. The guesthouse has tuk-tuk drivers for 12 bucks a day (this was for 2 people), which are competitive. Kunn was really nice. HIGHLY recommended

Excellent value - 1st December, 2009
Great value for money. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy rooms with the option of A/C. Great atmosphere at the restaurant and nice food. It was a sanctuary in Siem Reap after difficulty travelling across the border from Bangkok.

Awesome value, but rooms just okay - 1st December, 2009
When we got out of our tuk-tuk at Jasmine Lodge, we were very impressed. The exterior and lounge area is beautifully done and cozy with a resort feel. The lounge area is airy with comfy couches and a billiards table which was cool. The food was decent, and we really appreciated the free breakfast that was part of our package. The rooms however, are a slightly different story. We got the ground floor rooms, which may have been the problem. The rooms were dimly lit and the orange/pink wall colour did not help. But it is quite big though and the beds were comfortable. The fan is also really strong, so that helped with ventilation and making things feel airy. A common issue with ground floor units are creepy-crawlies, and we faced this too. The rain that we had probably didn't help either. It wasn't too bad, but gee whiz, tiny earthworms crawling up the drain in the toilet? Gah! Overall, it was a good stay and worth your money if you're not very fussy. The staff are very nice too. It's also in a good location, one of the nearest lodges to the Angkor temples, which helps if you want to get there for the sunrise. Just avoid ground floor units as much as possible.

Not good! - 18th March, 2008
I stayed at Jasmine Lodge for 4 nights. The room wasn't cleaned when I arrived late in the evening, but ok for the price. The staff was rude and unfriendly most of the time, for some reasons I don't understand! The 2nd day I booked a tuktuk with someone who stayed in another hostel (so it was none of their drivers). When they found out, they got even more rude, asked me to move out immediately, and also, all of a sudden, I had to pay twice as much for the room than they said before. Still I stayed, but had no fun there at all -- they refused to do my laundry and in the end overcharged my bill. I totally don't recommend to stay there, there are plenty of other nice, clean and cheap places in Siem Reap.

Surly staff - 3rd March, 2007
We booked an air-con room en suite, a good deal for $12 a nigh. The rooms were great, but... the staff was rude, unfriendly and seemed annoyed we were there. Friendly?? I have read this somewhere else in the Lonely Planet Guide, the owner must have been having a good day. The great rooms would not make up for the uncaring staff, stay somewhere else unless you like feeling unwanted.
