Affordable creature comforts

The Auberge Mont-Royal sits away from the busier parts of Siem Reap and is a reasonable option for those looking for creature comforts without paying the earth. The hotel had bungalow suites added in 2007, but the place remains yellow throughout and the rooms are very well-sized, with clean lines and simple colours, and a very high standard of cleanliness. Linen canopies shroud the large, soft double beds in the villa rooms. Bathrooms have big tubs as well as separate shower stalls. An additional expansion, of a three-floor, 15-room building and a large restaurant with a koi pond, is scheduled for completion in October 2009. Facilities include cable TV, air-con, hot water bathrooms, bath tubs (deluxe only) and minibars. With the 2007 renovation came a kidney-shaped swimming pool and an adjacent spa which has greatly increased the appeal of this quiet, well-regarded spot. A good option for families as well as flashpackers and mid-range travellers.

Auberge Mont-Royal d'Angkor reviews

Nice place but you can find the same thing for cheaper elsewhere - 15th December, 2009
I stayed in a standard double here for one night and found the room to be very clean. The pool was a nice touch as well. My only complaint was that the hot water wasn't very hot (more lukewarm than anything), but there were two beds, both very comfortable, and the room was a decent size for the price. Overall, this is a good choice. However, we spent the rest of our 11 days in Siem Reap in Babel Guesthouse, which was only $16 a night for a much larger room (almost twice the size) with very hot water. Babel Guesthouse was as clean as Auberge Mont-Royal d'Angkor, with the same standard of good service. The only thing Babel was missing was a pool. Both are good options, but I have to recommend Babel as a first choice and Auberge Mont-Royal as a second due to the inflated price.

nice and chilling - 26th November, 2009
We stayed in Nov 09 for three nights and it was very nice and relaxing. They offered us a room in the pool villa for $40 (instead of 60$). The rooms in the pool villa are huge with nice furniture, very clean and a balcony. The pool area is small but its still a nice spot to relax. Breakfast is huge, restaurant is serving good food. The stuff is very helpful and friendly.

Nice rooms but not great value - 11th November, 2009
Checked in here after a 10 hour bus ride. The room was $33 for a double with two huge double beds. The room was very clean, but a little bit plain and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room came with 2 huge breakfasts and the pool was really nice (skip the massage though, definitely not trained). However, we found a nicer room for half the price elsewhere in Siem Reap so do look around if on a budget.

Good place to stay - 15th October, 2009
Allright this is a good place to stay. The standard rooms are 25 dollars and its definitely worth the price in my mind. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are VERY nice for the price. The service is good. I believe the location is also good. It's like a 5 min walk to the night market and other resturants. Sure there are cheaper places where you can meet more people, and if you want to meet people I would say go somewhere else, but if you and your girl or man want to have some alone time this is a great place. Theres a bar but honestly I dont think anyone goes to it, and everytime I got back it was closed. The location isnt the best to get to other places in Siem, but hey just hire a tuk tuk for the day. If your a stingy person and cant spend the 12 dollars for a tuk tuk for a day then dont stay here. This is pretty much a place for people who want something nice and romantic but dont want to spend over 100 dollars a night.
