The name Shinta Mani is apparently derived from Sanskrit meaning the gem that provides everything one desires, and for once the PR of a Siem Reap hotel isn't far off the mark. This small hotel and spa has very well designed and furnished rooms, a compact restaurant and a supported hospitality institute that all guests are welcome to visit. The exterior looks like a typical high-end hotel without much charm, but the inside is more hip and stylish than the facade lets on. Rooms have stark white bedding and walls complimented by dark wooden furnishings and red accents. Rooms also have large bay windows with day beds overlooking the pool. Staff are helpful, and the location can't be beat at this price. Shinta Mani's desk clerk seemed harried with requests when we visited and asked us to come back later. When we returned she was helpful and courteous. The pool is really just a lap pool, but it's still a good spot to relax after a day of temple touring. Free WiFi throughout. Walk-in rates are high, so shop around for an online rate. Very convenient location, a short walk from the Old Market area.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.
