Big Lyna Villa

Homey feel

What we say: 3 stars

With just 11 rooms, the oddly named Big Lyna Villa is a good deal for flashpackers looking for a homey atmosphere in the Wat Bo area. Rooms are in an old Khmer-style house, with second-floor ones preferable, because the floors and walls are made entirely of dark, wide teak planks and rattan floor mats. Bottom floor rooms have less appealing cement floors. All the rooms have bamboo and wicker furniture, and are well sized and cleaned to a polish, with TVs and fridges. Bathrooms are large, with brick walls. The only low quality fixtures are the flimsy plastic bathroom doors. The wooden shutters covering the windows can be difficult to open. The rooms share a well-shaded terrace veranda, which is a nice place to relax during the midday heat, though you won't be able to spend a lot of time there, because the stiff and small furniture isn't made for lounging. For the authentic feel and its close proximity to the river and Old Market, we'd choose this place over the more austere options (like Golden Orange) in this price range in the area. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Breakfast not included.
