Eight Rooms
A cut above the standard

What we say:
You'd never guess it, but Eight Rooms no longer has eight rooms — instead there are two properties opposite each other on either side of the road. These are named 'Eight Wing' and 'Garden Wing' and both have six rooms each. Garden Wing is the newer location and, yes, has a garden and is slightly more expensive than the Eight Wing. The foyer of Eight Wing, behind a plant-filled patio, is an open-plan affair and has made a reasonable acquaintance with the style brush, including burgundy silk curtains, paper lanterns, and modern furniture. The rooms are also a big step above the typical Khmer shop house fare. They're a good size, with real mattresses, a sharp paintjob and even a flash of decor. All are air-con, kitted out with DVD, cable TV and minibar. Mosquito nets are provided, which will be useful as the air vents in the walls are not all covered. Complimentary internet is available on the ground floor. The rooftop terrace has a bunch of large potted plants and tables shaded by individual thatch-roof huts. There's no food or drink served up there, though, which makes it a place only for lounging. All up, for the money, this is a good find — made even better by free airport and bus-station pick-up. There's no official low-season rate, but the manager said you can negotiate one then depending on occupancy. The Singaporean owner is friendly and helpful. Both hotels are gay friendly.

A Charming Little Guesthouse
My wife and I stayed three nights at this charming little guesthouse. The central location was brilliant, just a short 5mins walk to the Old Market and Pub Street area. Our room was clean, spacious and quite stylish. The price of 22 USD per night almost seems too low considering what you get (air-condition, attached bathroom, cable tv, dvd player, mosquito nets, in-room safe and a mini bar). The staff too were really friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this guesthouse to everyone and we would definitely stay here again.

A Really Charming Guesthouse
My partner and I spent 4 nights here and we absolutely loved it! The location and service is superb! The room rates were also great value for money. We stayed in the lovely room #8 at the front of the house, with a really nice balcony. Our room was comfortable, very clean and came with air-conditioning, cable tv, dvd player and even an in-room safe. While our room was near to the street, it was still quiet at night. Free WIFI Internet in the rooms and lobby was a nice touch as well. The highlight of the guesthouse is the staff - the friendliest we came upon in all of Cambodia. The staff was great at arranging tours and transportation, and just spending time with us We would highly recommend this charming guesthouse and we will definitely return.

Nice but a bit pricey
We stayed at EightRooms for three nights while in Siem Reap and enjoyed the facilities but ended up leaving because we learned that other local guesthouses were offering comparable accommodation for less. We did enjoy the wi-fi and also the found the rooftop terrace and lobby to be comfortable places to hang out although completely empty of other guests (which added to the mystery of why the hotel was so expensive). On the upside, they did offer free pick-up from the bus station which was a nice touch. The decor is lovely but be aware that if you ask for a triple, you will end up with a flimsy foldaway bed.

Friendly & good location
We stayed for 3 nights in Feb 08 and found the staff friendly and helpful. We had an initial missunderstanding not being collect from the bus. So we got our own tuk tuk and were compensated without having to ask! They've got more than 8 rooms now and we stayed across the road in the new block which was clean, $2 less, but not as charming as the main building. However very convient location (only a few mintues walk from the ''alley'' a great little pedestrian street with good restaraunts and boutiques)and we organised tours of Angkor on a tuk tuk from the hotel which proved reasonible.
