The Villa Siem Reap
Nice atmosphere

What we say:
This deep purple, Australian-run flashpacker haven is more than just a place to stay. If you take advantage of the many services, it can be a way to really experience much of what Siem Reap has to offer. The 16 rooms are mostly set in a multi-storey Khmer-style house and are of a good size and comfort level. All are fitted out with air-con, minibar, hot water bathrooms and TV. When just the rooms are considered, the prices are a bit inflated (especially the standards), but once the pleasant garden area and range of extra services comes to mind, it's not such a bad deal. The suites are spacious and bright, with plenty of spots to lounge--including a four-poster bed, a day bed, and a big, soft couch. A range of reasonably priced tours are on offer -- some struck us as a little superfluous -- but others are quite a good deal and a creative diversion from temple trekking. Several tours involve visiting local villages and a portion of the proceeds supposedly go to supporting clean-water and other sustainable development projects for the villagers. The guesthouse also has a large, congenial garden area, well staffed with cheery, chatty staff and Aussie barbeque cooked on a giant, outdoor grill. It's $6, all-you-can-eat, served Tuesdays and Fridays. A Khmer buffet is served Wednesdays and Sundays. The Australian couple who own the place spend most of their time now out at their new, four-star hotel Sojourn outside town, but the Englishwoman managing Villa does a fine job creating a homey, helpful atmosphere. Villa guests have free access to Sojourn's facilities, so if you're looking to spend an afternoon by the pool or wandering the countryside, this might be a good deal.

the highlight of our trip to SE Asia
We stayed 4 nights at the Villa and booked, uncharacteristically, one of their package deals. It turned out to be fantastic! We had a deluxe room which was beautiful, cleaned impeccably every day, the best wi-fi we encountered during our entire trip, A/C, quiet room...the restaurant is wonderful and such a nice option when it's raining or you're tired and don't feel like venturing out. The staff are all so pleasant and accomodating. We had a wonderful tuk tuk driver, Snai, assigned to us for our entire stay. I can't say enough about how that adds to a trip, forming a relationship with someone who can then open up sides of Cambodia for you that you'd otherwise miss out on. I simply cannot say enough about the Villa and its staff - top notch and the highlight of our travels.

Good base
A good base for Angkor Wat with friendly staff and tour provision. Nothing wildly exceptional about the rooms but only a short walk away from the centre and a decent choice.

Extortion Anyone?
After having my laptop stolen at Angkor Voyager Villa and being forced out by the 'goons' and a 'paid off' local policeman, I was in need of a place to sleep. After walking around I came to this guesthouse. And true to form, the guesthouse only had ''1 room available''...the most expensive room of course. Since i was feeling very low and it was getting late, i felt like i had no choice. After finding out that there were MANY rooms available that next morning, i gotta say i felt i was a victim of extortion. During my 3 months in SE Asia, this seemed to be the norm...show up late, looking a little flustered and you're sure to here the same thing...''sorry no rooms mate, but...wait i've got one but it's $30'' (double the price)...Word to wise, book your room ahead of time. Otherwise, expect to pay double. Same happened in Bangkok, Vientiane, and Chiang Mai.

very nice, good service
Stayed here for 3 nights. Very helpfull staff, nice rooms. They even arrange tuktuks to take you around Ankor for a very reasonable price and airport pickup, with free drink in the tuktuk, was also free. Highly recommended
