Golden Banana Boutique Hotel
Thumbs up!

What we say:
Golden Banana used to be three adjacent hotels, however the Hotel and the Resort are no longer affiliated with the Guesthouse, which was the first to be built but is now under different ownership. The hotel was built second, is a fine choice and is especially popular with families. It was completely re-furbished this year, and some of the split-level rooms are now single-floor. The bedrooms are immaculate and the balcony area for each one particularly bright and airy as they look out onto the pool and a resplendent bougainvillea. The decor is charming, though can be a little tired in the downstairs living area, and the tiling especially is exquisite. All the accommodation is centred round a deep and very enticing swimming pool — there are a few loungers, though they’re a bit of a tight squeeze and you'll wrestle for them in high season. Facilities include cable TV and DVD players, WiFi throughout and a small restaurant. If within your budget, this is excellent value. Recommended — reservations are essential in high season.

Not at This Price
Sorry to strongly disagree. I just stayed here last week. We reserved over the internet ($60.) I was expecting something awfully nice and I was shocked. We saw two rooms (and stayed in one.) Speaking frankly and plainly, what a dump. We had a two-story room that was furnished in a hodgepodge of stuff that looked like it came from the Goodwill (Americans will understand the reference), looked tired, old, and all in all, crummy. The upstairs, where the bathroom and the sitting room are, is beastly hot. The shower is a bunch of concrete, the sink is very nice, and I guess nothing struck me about the toilet (that's good!.) On the plus side, the a/c downstairs worked great. The pool is jammed into a space and didn't look like a place I'd want to lounge for very long. The breakfast(included) is ok, but nothing to write home about. This is not $60 worth. We moved to the Bopha for $55 which was wonderful and we would have stayed longer if I hadn't been electrocuted in the shower (no kidding, I'll post a note.)

Don't go anywhere else
This is a great place to stay. Beautiful tropic surrounds, the pool is lovely, restaurant serves delicious local food with a nice wine list to match. The rooms are clean, bug-free, with all extras you might need. The staff are absolutely great, they greet you by name, genuinely care how you are and want to help. I can understand why this business is expanding the owner has developed a winning formula and while I was here all rooms in all properties were sold out.

Very , Very good Hotel
Very nice hotel with very nice staff. The bungalows are very clean and large, the highlight is the pool. The location is perfect, the city is within walking distance the restaurants in the area are recommended.

Golden Sanctuary
Luckily, a friend recommended the GB. It was our sanctuary whilst staying in Siem Reap. Our guide recommended a swim in their pool every afternoon after hours exploring the temples. The staff were very friendly and responsive. They were able to make great recommendations and book drivers and guides who became our trusty companions. Their restaurant was good and their AMOK was the most genuine we tried. The accomm varied in price. We took the cheapest and the beds were clean and comfortable with private(if not outdated) bathroom. It is tucked away from the madness in a very safe enclave of lanes across the river. CHARMED!

Fantastic!
great service, delicious food, relaxing atmosphere. We spotted our driver easily at the dock, then welcomed with a cold drink, cold compress and overview of the area by staff once we arrived. the GB boutique is a relaxing getaway, but still close enough to the town to be convenient. The pool area/lounge/tables are a great place to chill, peruse one of the magazines lying around and enjoy a lime/mint iced tea or a meal. Food service is at a relaxed pace and kitchen closes by 10 though. The rooms were spacious, well air conditioned, clean and bug-free and bathrooms included amenities which were a nice touch.

Hidden jewel
Off the beaten path, but not too far -- it's only two short blocks to cross the river and you're at the Old Market. The rooms are really suites, as described above, and the mildly salty pool is very refreshing after spending several hours traipsing around Angkor Wat complex. Reasonable rates for airport transfers and day-long driver hire -- ask for Sokhorn, he's also a gem!

great pool and atmosphere
this place is great - rooms are a bit pricier than in a GH, but if your budget allows it, you should stay here. I did not stay here but came in about 3 times to sit by the pool and have a drink. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. It's 5 min from the old market, and is located in a small alley so it's very private and not noisy at all.
