Golden Banana is actually three adjacent hotels, all with their own prices and pros and cons. The hotel is the second-newest of the three, and a fine choice. Rooms are across two floors -- the one we were shown was configured for sleeping downstairs with upstairs for lazing and washing. Rooms are immaculate and the upstairs area particularly bright and airy. Decor is charming and well-executed. All the accommodation is centred round a deep and very enticing swimming pool -- there's a few deckchairs, but you'll wrestle for them in high season. Facilities include cable TV and DVD players, WiFi throughout and a small restaurant. If within your budget, this is excellent value. Recommended -- reservations are essential in high season.

Not at This Price - 21st January, 2010
Sorry to strongly disagree. I just stayed here last week. We reserved over the internet ($60.) I was expecting something awfully nice and I was shocked. We saw two rooms (and stayed in one.) Speaking frankly and plainly, what a dump. We had a two-story room that was furnished in a hodgepodge of stuff that looked like it came from the Goodwill (Americans will understand the reference), looked tired, old, and all in all, crummy. The upstairs, where the bathroom and the sitting room are, is beastly hot. The shower is a bunch of concrete, the sink is very nice, and I guess nothing struck me about the toilet (that's good!.) On the plus side, the a/c downstairs worked great. The pool is jammed into a space and didn't look like a place I'd want to lounge for very long. The breakfast(included) is ok, but nothing to write home about.
This is not $60 worth. We moved to the Bopha for $55 which was wonderful and we would have stayed longer if I hadn't been electrocuted in the shower (no kidding, I'll post a note.)

Very , Very good Hotel - 5th June, 2009
Very nice hotel with very nice staff. The bungalows are very clean and large, the highlight is the pool. The location is perfect, the city is within walking distance the restaurants in the area are recommended.

Fantastic! - 20th August, 2008
great service, delicious food, relaxing atmosphere.
We spotted our driver easily at the dock, then welcomed with a cold drink, cold compress and overview of the area by staff once we arrived.
the GB boutique is a relaxing getaway, but still close enough to the town to be convenient. The pool area/lounge/tables are a great place to chill, peruse one of the magazines lying around and enjoy a lime/mint iced tea or a meal. Food service is at a relaxed pace and kitchen closes by 10 though.
The rooms were spacious, well air conditioned, clean and bug-free and bathrooms included amenities which were a nice touch.

Hidden jewel - 1st May, 2008
Off the beaten path, but not too far -- it's only two short blocks to cross the river and you're at the Old Market. The rooms are really suites, as described above, and the mildly salty pool is very refreshing after spending several hours traipsing around Angkor Wat complex. Reasonable rates for airport transfers and day-long driver hire -- ask for Sokhorn, he's also a gem!

great pool and atmosphere - 20th February, 2008
this place is great - rooms are a bit pricier than in a GH, but if your budget allows it, you should stay here. I did not stay here but came in about 3 times to sit by the pool and have a drink. Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. It's 5 min from the old market, and is located in a small alley so it's very private and not noisy at all.
