Selang Resort
Popular dive resort

What we say:
Perched on the steep slope that runs from the beach road down to the clear waters, Selang Resort has a cluster of variable quality rooms and a very well placed swimming pool and restaurant. The guy who showed us around said that just about all the guests are divers and they come for the diving not the rooms — and that shows. There's nothing wrong with them, they're just functional rooms that won't win any design or decorating awards (the fan and air-con rooms are often the same, they just take away the remote control if you opt for fan). Given the location the prices were quite attractive and, at least in low season, pretty easy to negotiate down. The only real blight on the copybook here is the motley collection of caged parrots and some kind of squirrels that are sitting around near reception. On the upside we saw dolphins right offshore from here which seemed to excite everyone, including us.
