Pondok Wisata Villa Jaya
Popular, clean and cheap

What we say:
About 350m along an unnamed dirt road off Jalan Rambutan in central Lovina is the Danish-owned Villa Jaya with six affordable rooms situated right in front of a crystal clear blue swimming pool. Both fan-cooled and air-con rooms are available and while the bathrooms don't get a lot of natural light, they still feel incredibly clean and this is probably due to a combination of regular use and regular scrubbing by the staff. This is an allround pleasant place to spend time and represents one of the few cheaper hotels in central Lovina that doesn't feel dirty or a bit rundown.

A little gem
What a lovely little place this is. We paid 300k rupiah for an A/C double room on the first floor. All the rooms overlook the pool (which is lovely), are of a reasonable size and are probably the cleanest rooms in Asia. I'd happily eat my dinner off the bathroom floor! No TV, safe or fridge in the room, but you do have chairs and a table, plus a wardrobe. The wifi is free and a decent speed. There's also space to sit outside the room on the veranda. This is a small guesthouse where the pool is the star attraction. It's very clean and set in a small and pretty garden. There are 6 sun loungers too, but most of the time I had the pool to myself. Villa Jaya is down a dirt track, but it's well signposted from the road and only a short walk. The track is (reasonably well) lit at night so no torch required. The food here is cheap and excellent, and the staff are very friendly. There are some excellent warungs nearby (turn right and the end of the dirt track) - cheap and fab food to be had, hence they're very popular. There's a couple of bigger restaurants over the road, but the food was pretty dire. The only negatives were the shower being a bit of a dribble, and the staff regularly trying to flog us tours - not aggressively though. Overall, highly recommended.
