What we say:

The sprawling Rambutan Lovina just keeps going and going and going, which is a good thing as the standard rooms in the first enclave after reception are mediocre and not worth considering. Ask to be taken to the second enclosure, which has both the better gardens and the resort's second swimming pool, and choose from one of the very generously sized deluxe rooms. These are organised in two level buildings with separate rooms upstairs and down. If you've got kids in tow, opt for a downstairs room, no kids — head upstairs. Rambutan seems to be a hit with families as the pool was awash in little people when we visited and the hotel is also well located just a short wander from Lovina Beach. This certainly isn't the newest hotel on the block and some of the rooms could probably do with a thorough sand-blasting, but at these prices, given the grounds, it is difficult to complain. Low season rates are very negotiable.
