In a fabulous location right in the middle of verdant ricefields across the river to the west of Medewi, Brown Sugar is a complex of four two-storey wooden lumbungs each with two rooms. It’s quite remote down here and you'll need your own transport if you want to go for a bite to eat in town, but you may not want to as everything is available at Brown Sugar itself including a range of learn to surf packages. The rooms are clean, feel great to walk in with their wooden floors, have a choice of twin beds or doubles with mosquito nets and feature above average cold water bathrooms. Browny surf break is right out the front and breaks onto sand for those uncomfortable with the rocks up the coast in Medewi, a 20 minute walk away. Recommended.

Great place not just to surf
We've stayed here at the Brown Sugar four times in the last 6 months and would go back in a heartbeat! Super friendly staff and a cozy vibe makes for a great place to kick back. The food is stellar, the beach beds have a great breeze, and there is a lively cat, Brownie and puppy dog, Mr. Brown to entertain between sets. You can also run along the beach and through rice fields.. Heaven on earth.
