The Conrad pegs itself at the upper end of the Nusa Dua properties and aside from a couple of minor gripes, delivers the goods. It's a sprawling hotel with two main pools (one standard shaped, the other a rambling lagoon affair which includes two sections of beach) and over 300 metres of beachfront. The trek from reception to the furthest rooms takes five to ten minutes. Rooms are well sized and comfortable, with exceptional bedding, firm mattresses and fluffy (I'd like to steal you) pillows. The bathrooms are equally large and spiffy but the taps require instructions to understand — especially in the shower. Plenty of desk space and while the ground floor rooms empty out onto a terrace then the lawn garden, they are furnished with one deckchair, one chair and a table — a second chair would be ideal. Grounds are lush with the pool areas furnished with both deckchairs and cabanas (get in early!) Two main restaurants, one beachside, one near and below reception look after most of the dining — a Japanese restaurant is hidden away at the far corner of the resort. With the sprawling lawn grounds and kid-friendly pools, this should be a hit with families, but the kids club is a major disappointment, with a small and motley selection of toys and books — at these prices we'd classify it a major embarrassment. One point where this hotel really excels is the staff — absolutely faultless service. The Conrad isn't cheap by any means — be sure to hunt around for a competitive online rate.
