Ramada Resort Benoa
Isolated location, good for families

What we say:
Set towards the northern end of the Tanjung Benoa stretch of hotels, the sprawling bulk of the Ramada property is on the off-beach side of Jalan Pratama, with just the Tao Restaurant and the hotel's second swimming pool beachside. The hotel has some good facilities for families, including a small playground, and the second swimming pool has both a grotto and a waterfall (plus a wet-bar to cater for the whole family), all which help to compensate for the off-beach location. Rooms are of a good size, if a bit tired, and come with the standard amenities expected in a hotel in this price bracket. There are three points worth pointing out. Firstly, the beach here is not really swimmable, especially at low tide, so if you don't want to swim in the hotel pools, you'll need to drive elsewhere (the hotel offers transfers to Geger Beach). Secondly, you're outside comfortable walking distance of the main Tanjung Benoa strip, so for eating outside the hotel you can choose between the tour-group restaurants on the beach (no thanks) or a long walk to a better range of restaurants. Lastly, midway between reception and the swimming pool there is a stone pillar which branches out at forehead level — it is lethal.
