What we say: 
Just when you think every hotel in Kopeng is a crusty old shoebox, Hotel Catalina comes along and redeems the entire town. Reminiscent of a 1980s motel, this place does a good job of providing extremely bright and clean rooms with hot water, Western toilets and fantastic views of either Gungung Merbabu or a lesser mountain across the valley. It's a pleasant joint and worth paying a premium for as the vast majority of other places in town are just not up to scratch. To find this place, walk about 300 metres towards Magelang down the main road from Kopeng and it's on the left.
